Point Cloud comes with 3 point cloud engines; Carlson, 3DTK and
Tesseract. Point cloud setup allows the user to choose which point
cloud engine to use. The table found in the
Importing a Cloud chapter shows the different
formats each engine supports.
Carlson: With the Carlson Point Cloud engine you can work with clouds up to 10-20 million points depending on your system.
3DTK: With the 3DTK Point Cloud engine you can work with clouds
that have hundreds of millions of points.
Tesseract: With the Tesseract engine you can work with clouds that have up to a billion points. This is the same engine that is used in the Supersonic Viewer (View > 3D Viewer > Supersonic Viewer).
Activate Old Engine: this can only be performed if a valid 2015 Serial Number is entered in to activate the Pointools Point Cloud Engine. Note - this is only available for clients who have saved projects using this point cloud engine. Using the Carlson, 3DTK or Tesseract engine is recommended.Menu Location: Point Clouds
